Mask market chaos: exaggerating filter efficiency brand imitation
Prior to the implementation of the "Specifications", there was no standard for protective masks that was specifically aimed at ordinary people.
At present, China's standards for masks include "Respiratory protective equipment self-absorbing filter type particulate respirator", "medical protective mask technical requirements", "medical surgical mask", etc., but all belong to labor protection and medical protection standards.
Recently, the reporter found in the e-commerce platform of JD.com and Tmall.com with the keyword of “anti-fog and smog mask”. The implementation standards for different brands of masks are different. Some implement the above-mentioned domestic standards, some implement foreign standards, and some masks do not mark this.
Many masks have "filter efficiency" printed on the eye-catching package. However, some media have revealed this month that several masks of a certain supermarket in Beijing declared that “the removal rate is as high as 90% or more”. The actual removal rate was only 30% to 40%.
In addition, according to the Shanghai Bureau of Quality Supervision, disclosed in March this year, 69 batches of samples from Shanghai production companies, physical sales stores and online stores were detected. The minimum filtration efficiency of 54 batches of masks was lower than 90%, and 28 batches were Masks contain formaldehyde, a carcinogenic substance.
In addition to the inconsistent standards and poor quality, there is still branding in the mask market.
